Customer Question

Hello doctor, my dog has black raised spots next to his genitals that were not there before. Any idea what they may be?

HI this is DRB and I would be happy to help you with this.....I have seen something similar to what you are describing on my patients before. Usually these are just areas of either comedones (black heads) or localized areas of hyper-pigmentation from licking that area. When dogs lick especially on their ventral abdomen (belly) they can get black spots in those areas.

It is also possible that it could be melanoma, but that is very doubtful, Usually when I see these they are either one of the two I have described above.

I hope this helps you. Sincerely, DRB

Please hit rate my service as that is the only way I am compensated. Thank you very much.
