Where was the hernia, please? I don't believe the common umbilical hernia should be incriminated in her bleeding but for completeness sake I need to know this. Her surgeon will need to check your dogs vaginal cytology to see if your dog has gone into heat. If so, she's suffering from the ovarian remnant syndrome - a small piece of ovary was left in your dog's abdomen following surgery (or only her uterus was removed leaving both ovaries which would be unusual in the United States). Alternatively, a stump pyometra - an infection at the site at which the uterus was severed from the cervix - has arisen although I would expect your seeing a mixed discharge of pus and blood in that case.
