Customer Question

Skippy is a 14 year old corgi in good health. Last week started pacing, can't get comfortable. Still eating & going out to do his business. He does walk ~10-20 feet and either falls down or has to sit down to rest during which time he seems breathless

Hi, I can help you with your question today. How long ago was Skippy's last physical exam?

This past spring
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
He is heartworm negative and on preventative
Expert:  brisadog replied 2 years ago.

OK. I am concerned about the possibility of heart disease causing his signs. This can be a cause of decreased exercise tolerance and increased respiratory effort.

I recommend having him evaluated by your regular vet. I would start with a physical exam and x-ray of his chest.

These may be enough to diagnose heart disease. If we confirm it, we can then begin medications which should improve his condition significantly.
