The pharmacokinetics of guaifenesin (Mucinex) haven't been thoroughly studied in dogs. To address your concerns as best as I can, please note that of the 64 dog oral exposures to guaifenesin reported to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center during 2005-2009 only 5 showed clinical signs. These dogs received a dosage estimated between 415 and 830 mg/kg (189 and 377 mg/lb) and exhibited hypothermia, mild tremors, ataxia ("drunken sailor"), and vomiting. No specific antidote is available and so treatment remains supportive only.
