My 12 lb Russel/Chihuahua ate 12-20 Dasuquin with MSM.

my 12 lb Jack Russel/Chihuahua ate 12-20 Dasuquin with MSM. 600mg/400mg. He consumed this 3-5 hrs ago. Should I be concerned at this point in time?

I have worked out an answer for you below ...

1. Good news! : Nutramax Dasuquin products and other similar items are really more food supplements than drugs and as such have a very high margin of safety in the dog. So much so that even when they eat quite a lot as in your case toxicity as such will not be an issue and so there are no special measures you need take in your case.

2. However you may see a mild transient bout of vomiting or diarrhoea purely because of the digestive disturbance caused by a sudden intake of what is a larger quantity of an unusual food source for your dog. But if this should occur in most cases this will resolve itself in around 48 hours without any special treatment.

3. Of course if any odd symptoms should arise you should have Cody checked over by an ER vet without delay but this would be unlikely in my experience.
