My 11 year old golden presented with flaring of nasal

Customer Question

my 11 year old golden presented with SOB flaring of nasal airways retractions of intercostal spaces progressively increasing over 1 week.. ALKP 1105 GGT7 on aug 20 she had a benign mass removed from her rear paw small. at the er clic last pm ALKP 1371 GGt 12 The mD never told me it was elevated. He chest xray showed pleural effusion. No fever enlarged heart and liver on XXRAY. They wanted to tap her or put her down. Last evening she would breath easier when at rest. I dont want to cause her any pain. Can you treat a dog with a diuretic for this as you would a human. Her BUN CR ALB Lytes are normal. They said WBC normal although I did not see it.

Hello my name is***** and I am a licensed veterinarian with over 9 years of experience. I am hoping to help you with your pet today. I just have a few questions to ask to gather some more information if you don’t mind? Did she have an ultrasound of the heart done? Did your veterinarian give you possible causes of the pleural effusion? Did they ever test the fluid to confirm what it was?
