I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Fancy's behavior is pathognomonic (particularly indicative) of cervical (neck) pain. The most common cause of such pain in a 7 year old miniature breed is intervertebral disk disease - a "slipped disk". Supportive evidence of a disk includes vocalizing when approached or lifted, trembling/shaking (pain responses), reluctance to jump up or down or navigate steps, a change in posture - a "hunch" in her back or holding her neck stiffly and head lower to the ground, difficulty lowering her head to eat or drink, and a change in behavior such as a normally social dog becoming aloof or, conversely, a normally aloof dog becoming "clingy". In most cases, conservative care involves the use of a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) such as carprofen or meloxicam, an opiate analgesic such as tramadol, and a skeletal muscle relaxant such as methocarbamol or diazepam. X-rays of her spine may be recommended but most of us will eschew such diagnostics unless surgery is contemplated.

Spinal meningitis and a Chiari-like malformation involving her cervical spinal cord are additional considerations but not as commonly found as is a slipped disk. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Hi. The vet said she had an ear infection. She seems to be 95%better. She barks fine now and is more active than yesterday since receiving antibiotics for her ear. I still can't quite figure out the yelping from touching her under her front limb, I haven't tried to pick her up yet since I'm afraid I'll hurt her.
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 2 years ago

I agree with you. An ear infection doesn't explain her yelping when picked up but I'm not going to argue with success.
