Customer Question

Hi, my name is***** have a 2 year old Bichon called Jessie. Yesterday when I came home she had a very grumbly tummy and sicked up white foam about 4 times. I noticed there was also a patch of white foam in her outside area. When I took her for a walk yesterday morning she had seemed fine. The only thing that was strange was that she had her normal wee on the walk, but not her poo. I have been observing her all night and she hasn't eaten or drunk any water. She hasn't weed or pood either. When I stroke her back it seems much more tense than normal. Her mood is quiet, sad, but still lively enough to react to changes in situations. (When my husband came home from work last night, she greeted him with her normal enthusiasm). I have made an appt with the vets for 4:30 this afternoon (in pretty much 12 hours time) but I'm not sure if I should get an earlier appt. I am supposed to go to work today but not sure if I should leave her. I have asked my mum to look in on her once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I would really appreciate some advice please. The only other thing I have noticed is she was scratching her ear a lot just now and I need to check with my daughter when she wakes up when she last treated her with the flea treatment. Thank you for any advice you can give.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

Can she keep water down?

Are her gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on her belly, does she have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could she have eaten something she should not have (ie bones, toys, rocks, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Has she had any diarrhea?

I'm just following up on our conversation about Jessie. How is everything going?
