Customer Question

I have been reading a lot about dog food nutrition. I have been feeding my five-year old terrier mix canned Science Diet. I see now that it gets poor ratings for nutrition.
What brands would you recommend? My dog weighs just a little over nine pounds and will not eat dry food.
The choices and information are overwhelming.

Hello,

Thanks for your question. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

It is overwhelming how many kinds and brands of dog food are out there. I personally feed Royal Canin to all my pets, but they have health issues, and are on prescription diets for their individual issues.

Here is a website I like that rates pet foods, describes their ingredients, etc. I think any of their 5 star foods should be good:

The link I sent you was for the dry foods; here are their recommended wet foods: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/best-dog-foods/best-wet-dog-foods/
