My 5 year old peke has flea allergy dermatitis. My holistic vet is out if town. Want to know if it's ok to give him Zyrtec and if so how much. Benadryl minimally effective. He weighs 20 lbs. thank you

Hi, I'm a licensed veterinarian and I'll be happy to help. Yes, Zyrtec can be given to Zeke, as long as it's not the Zyrtec-D version, which is not considered safe for dogs. Zyrtec can be dosed at 2.5 to 5mg every 12-24 hours.
