Drew. My 6 year old male French Bulldog has been throwing up

Customer Question

Hi Dr. Drew. My 6 year old male French Bulldog has been throwing up foam and bile occasionally for the last 7 hours or so and didn't eat his dinner last night. His breathing is rapid and he is panting a lot. Also, he rarely goes outside (through his dog door) if we are at home, except to relieve himself, however he has been spending the majority of his time for the last 7 hours outside, and occasionally he comes inside. I can see his is in distress. My vet won't open for another 6 hours and I don't have a scheduled appointment as it just started last night around 8 pm. Should I take him to the emergency clinic?

Hello, I am afraid that the expert you have requested is not currently available. Still I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.
Can he drink at all? Ca he keep any water down?
Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?
Can you take a breathing rate for me (just count his breaths for 10 seconds + multiply that by 6)?
If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?
Does he look bloated?
Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, rocks, plants, chemicals, etc)?
