Our small dog, 22#, just swallowed 2-3 Allerest pills that fell on the floor. I tried to get them out of her mouth, but she swallowed them too fast. What should I do?

Hello again Deanne and thanks for waiting.

I have worked out an answer for you below ...

1. This product contains fexofenadine and provided that was the only ingredient then I would not be too concerned.

2. I say the above because this antihistamine is very safe in dogs and has a very high margin of safety. With that sort of dose rate the most I would expect to see would be some mild lethargy for a few hours. Other than that, you're not likely to see any signs.

3. Of course if ant unexpected symptoms do occur then you should have her checked over by an ER vet without delay, but this would be unlikely.
