Welcome to Just Answer. My name is***** and I've been a veterinarian for 15 years. I'm very sorry to hear about this situation with Asia and her lung cancer. When using steroids, they can be used for:
1) Replacement / supplementation of what the body isn't making.
2) As an anti-inflammatory
3) As an immunosuppressive
4) As an antineoplastic agent
There are different doses for each one. The dose that she would be getting is about 2.22 mg / kg and this is right there with the anti-neoplastic dosing range. The hope with her and her situation is that it gets her to feel better, restore appetite by sending the cancer into a little remission.
