Customer Question

We have a 14 year old pit/boxer she keeps having hyperventalating like episodes. She has ABT for pneumonia and a sedative to give her if she has too much trouble calming down. We are at a loss.

I am sorry to hear you are worried about Jazmine. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

When she has these episodes, do her gums stay pink in color, or do they look pale?

Has she had a chest Xray?

I am sorry but I am not good with abbreviations; what are ABT? Antibiotics? If so, which antibiotic is it?

If she has not had a chest Xray to look for fluid in the lungs, an enlarged heart, tumors in the lungs (a concern in a dog 14 years old with breathing problems), that would be my first step, if she were my own dog. If she has fluid in her lungs, or an enlarged heart, there are medications that might help her breathe better.

Let me know what else I can help with or answer.
