I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. There's a good chance that your pup's tear duct is either atretic (underdeveloped) or absent. His vet will need to carefully examine the eye under magnification. It's also possible that the tear duct isn't the problem. There may be an anatomical defect in his eyelids or misplaced eyelashes that are irritating his cornea and encouraging the formation of so much mucus/pus. These abnormalites, too, will need a close exam by his vet in order to determine how best to proceed. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
