We have a Maltese-shitzu, about 3 years old, 6.5Kg, female.
For last 36 hours she has seemed ill just lying around (totally out of character)
She's off her food and drink but she has done poohs.
Does not seem to have a temperature (does not feel hot and is not panting)
However she is breathing with some difficulty - having to draw deep breaths (but still through her nose). A little shivering. Her mid body area may be a bit bloated (hard to tell) but I cannot feel any lumps.
I cannot feel any swollen glands or notice anything else unusual. Eyes and nose seem normal. Mouth and throat seem normal.
Your advice please.
Thanks
Andrew

My wife also thinks she may be a bit bloated. She does not seem feel any pain when we push and prod around that area.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today. How long has she been off her food/water? The whole 36 hours?Any vomiting, retching, gagging, lip licking or grass eating? Are her gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky? You noted that she wasn't painful in her belly, but does she have any tensing? Does it feel like a water balloon or gassy?Could she have eaten something she should not have (ie bones, toys, rocks, plants, chemicals, etc)?
