Hi, I'm a licensed veterinarian and I'll be happy to help. While this is of course rather disgusting, it is not likely to be a major health problem in most cases.Birds and flies / fly larvae could carry parasites, so it would be wise to watch the stools for a few weeks to see if there's any sign of tapeworm segments (look like grains of rice, sesame seeds, or small maggots). Your veterinarian can also run a fecal test in 3-4 weeks as well, though tapeworms are often not found via this method.I would treat Karma symptomatically -- if no problems appear, I would not be worried at this time. Digestive upset could be managed with a bland diet for a few days, in most cases.

If needed, Pepto-Bismol caplets, 1 every 8-12 hours, could be useful if there is vomiting or diarrhea, but if the problem persists for more than 24 hours, or if there is a poor appetite, veterinary evaluation is recommended.

Hi Michelle,

I'm just following up on our conversation about Karma. How is everything going?
