My 13 yr old cross collie lab has fear like spasms while he is resting ,,,suddenly jumps and runs away from where he has been lying looking back as if something hurt him, Had his anal glands done , Could it be pain

Hello. It does sound like something is causing pain in your dog. I would make sure it's not fleas, as I have seen flea bites cause this type of sign. If he's not on a flea preventative, then he should be on something every month. The source of pain, if not fleas, can be tough to determine. Many times we just have to try a pain medication to see if it helps with the signs. Something like Rimadyl or Tramadol would be good options. If you want to just try something at home, you could give Aspirin. The dose of Aspirin in dogs is 5 mg per lb body weight. It can be given every 12-24 hours, as needed.
