My dog was biting his scrotum and. Now it's red and he is in pain what should I put on it to sooth him? What are the possible causes?

Hello. It sounds like this may be some type of local allergic reaction. To help the itchiness go away, you can give Benadryl at home. The dose of Benadryl is 1-2 mg per lb body weight. You can give it ever 6-8 hours, as needed. I would also try to keep him from licking/ chewing at it. You can put an e-collar (lamp shade collar) on him. You could also put boxer shorts on him and put his tail through the fly hole. That's a way to cover it up. Topically, I would just use a soap/ cool water compress to clean it and then a topical antibiotic ointment like neosporin as needed. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
