I have a 5 year old female pomeranian. This evening she started acting very strangely. Panting, tail down and pacing. she doesn't seem to be in pain, more like anxious.

Hello. This actually sounds more like back pain to me. Dogs will back pain will have a hard time getting comfortable. They may also have their tail down and we can see signs of anxiety- pacing, panting. If this is back pain, I would also look out for an arched back, reluctance to jump up on things and difficulty going up/ down stairs. If this looks likely, then I would see your vet and have them start some pain meds. If you're not seeing any other signs of pain, then it may just be an anxiety issue and I'd give it some time to resolve on it's own. If you want to try something at home, you could give Benadryl. The dose in dogs is 1-2 mg per lb body weight. You can give it every 6-8 hours, as needed. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
