I found a black lump on my dogs back - the vet did FNA found

Customer Question

I found a black lump on my dogs back - the vet did FNA found melanocytes. Said they couldn't tell me if it was benign or malignant. Told me I could leave it and watch it or have it removed. I opted to have it removed. Waiting on histopath results. Did I make a mistake by having it removed? He now has a large incision on his back and I read an article that says wound healing cells can actually aid in the development of cancer cells. So I'm worried that I am trying to prevent cancer in my dog but may have unwittingly contributed to it.
