Aloha! You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin
Concerta (methylphenidate) is a central nervous system stimulant in dogs not being treated for hyperactivity. We rarely dose above 10 mg/dog. I would induce emesis with 45 ml (3 measuring tablespoons) of 3% hydrogen peroxide by means of a small poultry baster placed between Deizel's cheek teeth and cheek. He should vomit within 15 minutes particularly if fed a slice of bread prior to the dosing. If he doesn't vomit, please repeat the same dose. The above is predicated upon his ingesting this drug within the past hour. If you don't have peroxide at home, please bring Deizel to his vet who will induce vomiting by injection. I would consider 78 mg of this drug in a 77 lb dog to constitute a dangerous intoxication. Please keep me posted.
