We have two small miniature schnauzers that got into a 3lb

Customer Question

We have two small miniature schnauzers that got into a 3lb bag of grass seed with the mefenoxam in it. They did Puke it up and most of it was on the floor so I'm not 100% sure how much they really ate. Do you think this will hurt them?

I hunted down a study (please see here: http://www.epa.gov/opp00001/chem_search/cleared_reviews/csr_PC-113502_4-Nov-97_a.pdf) which suggested that a one-time ingestion of mefenoxam shouldn't be alarming particularly because they vomited soon after ingesting it. Scroll down to "subchronic oral toxicity-dog") and you'll find the LOEL (lowest observed effect level) and NOEL (no observable effects level) - neither of which were likely to be exceeded by your dogs considering the history you provided. I would simply "watchful wait" and not expect your seeing anything other than their vomiting and transient GI distress - inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
