Customer Question

i have a yorkie-poo weighing twenty-two pounds. He is diabetic. He found some chocolate and ate it --- hershey kisses --- maybe ten of them. Is there something I should do?

Hello there. I am sorry to hear that your guy is trying to get himself into trouble this evening. I am happy to help you. I would recommend that you feed him his normal food and give his insulin like normal. 10 hershey kisses in a 20 lb dog should not cause any major problems. You may see some mild stomach upset such as diarrhea but nothing more severe. Do not give any extra insulin, continue his normal dose and dosing schedule. No need to do anything different at this time. Just monitor closely. Any lethargy, vomiting more than 3 times, diarrhea for more than 24 hours then have him seen by your vet to make sure nothing else is going on. I hope this helps and I hope this makes sense. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions or concerns. I would be happy to help. Please do not forget to rate my response so I receive credit for my time. Thank you!
