Customer Question

What will relieve my sweet Jackie B's scratching and chewing on her fur and feet? Some kind of lotion that would be easy to apply would be good! It bothers her most in summer.

This is a common sign of an outdoor allergen, especially to pollens. There are a couple things to help: one is benedryl (or generic diphenhydramine) 1 mg per pound of body weight twice daily. Another is a topical, like you mentioned. I would use one with a light steroid in it to cut back the itch. Some options include: genOne spray, betagen spray or GentaSpray. As far as a lotion, the leave on condition called ResiCort made by Virbac. These can be bought online, such as on amazon or drfostersandsmith. As far as over the counter at petsmart or petco, there are aloe sprays for hot spots, but they are not quite as potent. Please let me know if you have further questions.
