My 12 week old french bulldog put her face in paint. We don't

Customer Question

My 12 week old french bulldog put her face in paint. We don't think she ingested any but are not sure. If she did, it may have been one or two licks. What should we look for? Should we take her to an emergency clinic right away?

Welcome! My name is***** am a UC Davis graduate, and currently, a Medical Director of a veterinary hospital.
I am sorry to hear about this concern.
Well, if there is no certainty any was ingested or possibly very little, it doesn't appear an ER trip is indicated. I would double check the teeth, gums, and tongue to see if there is any paint residue obvious within the oral cavity.
If not, I would simply monitor for any symptoms of gastrointestinal upset over the next 48 hours.
So, keep an eye out for any vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, drooling.
If symptoms were to manifest, than a vet visit is well worth it with no delay.
Otherwise, at this point, close observation is all that would be indicated.
Sorry to hear what Bronte did.
Good Luck
