Hello, I'm Dr. Deb.
I recently came online and see that your question about Hooch hasn't been answered. I'm so sorry that you've had to wait for a response, but if you still need assistance, I'd like to help if I can.
Amoxicillin is certainly a drug which can be given to dogs although since it's been around for quite a while, resistance is been seen so it's not as effective as it once was for many conditions. I don't typically use it for skin issues either but it might be effective for Hooch if he has an infected anal gland.
The dose I use would be 10 mg of body weight twice a day. For example, if he weighs about 50 lbs, then his dose would be 500 mg at one time. I also recommend that this drug be given with food to avoid stomach upset.
I hope this helps although, again, my apologies for the delayed reply. Deb
