Customer Question

my 13 lb dog was chewing on a spatula with dried "kwik seal plus" premium kitchen & bath adhesive sealant. it has ethylene glycol in it. It's had to tell if she got a small piece in her mouth. This happened 10 mins ago. She seems fine so far. What do i do??

Aloha! You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin
The amount of ethylene glycol in these products is insignificant in terms of toxicity. You needn't induce emesis. Transient GI distress may arise (vomiting, inappetence, diarrhea) if enough of the sealant were ingested but it doesn't sound as if that were case.
Ethylene glycol toxicity causes acute renal failure and symptoms arise between 12-24 hours after ingestion - a painful abdomen, increased thirst, and vomiting are seen. Thankfully, you're not going to see such symptoms.
Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
