Welcome! My name is***** am a UC Davis graduate, and currently, a Medical Director of a veterinary hospital.
I am sorry to hear about this concern.
Worry? No
But, warrant further investigation? Yes
Excessive shedding certainly can be due to shifts in the weather or allergies.
But, at this age and for this breed, hypothyroidism, low thyroid hormone, could certainly be a contributing factor. There are some other endocrine conditions as well.
So, if there is no crusting, scabbing, redness to the skin, or excessive licking or chewing, that is all good.
But, is it worth a veterinary examination, and perhaps, a basic blood test with a thyroid level? Absolutely.
Good Luck
