I have a pregnant yorkie in good health 2 years old . her milk came in 1 week ago should I be worried about her not having the puppies, she appears in no distress never noticed contractions.

Hello. Thanks for writing in. I wouldn't be worried at this point. You usually start seeing lactation before they have puppies. Typically it starts about 7-10 before having puppies. If you know the date she was bred and conceived, gestation period is usually 63-64 days. If it goes longer than 67 days, I would be concerned. From this point, if she goes another 5-7 days without having puppies, I would have her checked out. Start taking her rectal temperature 2-3 times a day. When it drops to around 99 F, expect the puppies to come in 12-24 hours. If longer than 36 hours, have her evaluated by your vet.
