Hello, I'm sorry to hear about Austin's nail being cut too short.
First try and remain calm. The more excited everyone is the higher his blood pressure goes and the longer it will take for a clot to form and stay.
You can pat dry the end of the nail with a clean, dry cloth then dip the too short nail end in flour or corn starch then apply pressure to the end with wax paper or plastic wrap.
You might need to aply pressure for 3 to 5 minutes if it is bleeding quite a bit.
I recommend one person apply pressure while he is laying down while another gives him a nice belly rub or ear rub so he relaxes.
If the nail continues to bleed on and off today you can usually purchase styptic powders at the pet store. But usually pressure and something to start the clot (flour or corn startch) is enough.
No walks on cement for a couple days.
