My dog just ate an entire apple, core and all, and I was wondering

Resolved Question:

My dog just ate an entire apple, core and all, and I was wondering if there's anything to be concerned about. I've been looking through responses form people online who say as long as he's not a small breed and he didn't ingest multiple apples, he should be fine, but I just wanted to make sure. My dog is an Australian Shepherd mix, around 60 lbs.

Dr. Jenn :

HI there

Customer:

Hello

Dr. Jenn :

Chances are your baby chewed it up small enough to pass right through. However-there is also a chance for it to cause a GI blockage. We need to monitor closely for any vomiting , lethargy, or any other change in behavior. If you notive any of the above yopur baby would need to see a vet-as an x ray would be needed to check for a blockage.

Customer:

Alrighty, do you think he would be fine over night?

Customer:

or should I stay up for a while?

Dr. Jenn :

As long as he is acting bright and alert.

Customer:

Okay, thanks so much :) Anything else I might need to be aware of?

Dr. Jenn :

You can check his stool daily to see if it passes-if he did not chew it up.

Customer:

Okay, thanks again :D

Dr. Jenn :

No problem, take care
