My dog has started hacking and vomiting thick clear stuff with foam or lots of thick foam stuff has been vaccinated for kennel cough
Hello, I am Dr. Peter a licensed Veterinarian. I would like to help. I need to ask you a few questions to be well informed and give you the best advise. There is no additional charge for information request.

1- How long has this been going on?
2- Does it sound like she has something stuck in her throat?
3- Has she been around unfamiliar dogs like a kennel or dog park?
4- Any pre existing medical conditions?
5- Take a look at her gums and see if they are pink or pale?

1. Since earlier this evening
2. Not sure about her throat I've listened to her breathe and it sounds I hunk normal
3. It's been more than a month since she was in a kennel but she was at the humane society for a few hours a few days ago
4. None that I know of
5. Her gums look a bit pale not pink
1- Is she eating and drinking?
2- Is it fair to say that she vomits the foam after the hacking?
3- Can you rub her throat for 10 seconds and see if this will make her cough/hack?
4- Any other symptoms?

1. She come up looking for treats if she hear packaging rustle and will eat one if I give it
2. Yes that is what happens
3. I rubbed her throat and nothing happened
4. She seems to not have as much energy like when I have he flu

The symptoms that you are describing are consistent with kennel cough, especially if she has been recently to the humane society. I do understand she is vaccinated against kennel cough (B. bronchoseptica), which is the most common cause for kennel cough. But, there are other bacterias and viruses that cause kennel cough that we do not vaccinate against, it appears she may have picked up one of those other organisms. I would have her checked by your family veterinarian, she may need oral antibiotics. In the meantime, start her on Robitussin DM (cough) 1 teaspoon every 6 hours.
