HI there,

I do have a few questions for you .

1) Is Fatty up to date on vaccinations? Dewormng?

2) What do you know about his history -- where did he come from? It sounds liek you just got him.

3) How is he acting overall?

Thanks -- no charge for info requests

we've had this dog since its birth. the dog has no papers. its had no vaccinations or deworming. we own his mother but his father is unknown. overall he is acting tired and he has lost a lot of weight.

Ok -- thank you that helped me a great deal.

Blood in feces or vomit can be caused by

1) Parvo virus -- can be easily tested for

2) Coccidiosis -- which is a parasite that can be diagnosed by fecal exam under microscope

3) pancreatitis or hemorrhagic enteritis form eating something that he should no thane eaten -- (garbage, dead critters, people food, etc). This is diagnosed by a blood test and careful management. Usually a 12 hour fast -- then reintroduction of a bland food (white rice).

4) foreign body in the digestive tract that has done injury.

This could be serious --- and really needs to have a examination done to rule out some of the more severe problems if possible.

If his gums are nice and pink -- and go white when you press on them with a finger then quickly pink again -- that indicates that his circulation is ok and blood loss is not tremendous. You can also deeply massage his abdomen and feel for pain or tenseness -- it should be soft ans squishy. If he is sable -- you can allow for the fast and monitor him closely. During this time -- no food -- but water is fine.

I hope this information helps!
