Hi there and welcome to Just Answer!

The most common side effect of Avandia is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) therefore you should monitor your dog for any weakness, lethargy, tremors, seizures, etc which are all signs of hypoglycemia in dogs. If any of these signs are noted, I would bring Mia to a veterinarian immediately since she will need intravenous fluids with dextrose added. Avandia is not used commonly in dogs since it is thought to be relatively ineffective which is good for Mia. I could not find the toxic dose so to be sure you would need to call the ASPCA Poison Control Hotline (888)(NNN) NNN-NNNN- they will have all of the information although there is a $65 fee.

If MIa ate the medication within the past 2 hours, I would induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide (2 tsp) and repeat with 1 tsp in 15 minutes if no luck. If you are very concerned or just want to be extra safe, you could bring her to a veterinarian (ER clinic at this time of night) and have them check a blood sugar, induce vomiting, and possibly give activated charcoal. I don't know if this is necessary but I'm a "rather safe than sorry" kind of doctor.

I hope this helps!
