Hello!

Thanks for using JustAnswer.com, I'm Dr. Dan and I'll try to help you.

I'm really sorry to have to tell you this but the other vets are correct. It is illegal for on line or in person vets to give dosages on new meds without seeing your pet. They are not giving you the run around they are not out to "get you for money" or to put your pet through any more than she needs to but laws governing our license do not allow us to give out dosage info without seeing your pet in person. On top of that changing from NPH is not as easy as just calculating a dose. The weight of your dog, diet, activity level, hydration level and blood sugar level are all needed to make the proper choice. So on top of legality it is not safe to "just change" to NPH without supervision.
