Dr. Andy :

Hello. I am reviewing your question now.

Dr. Andy :

Well, in order to improve his quality of life, we got to know what are the primary ailments that are causing him distress. Meaning, we need to have a better idea of why the abdomen is swollen and painful. Therefore, some abdominal x-rays at the vet are critical. In addition, a basic blood profile for an overall health assessment would be invaluable to know his overall health.

Dr. Andy :

He may benefit greatly from pain medication like Tramadol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. But, if there are any digestive issues (stomach or intestinal), he may be better off with medication like antacids.

Dr. Andy :

So, we need to start somewhere with some basic testing to know the severity of his condition, before we can make a determination as to which drugs may help the most. The abdominal swelling is concerning because it can suggest problems like liver enlargement, spleen enlargement, stomach problems, or even a tumor in the belly. With some basic testing, your vet will be able to guide you further.
