How much of a 250mg capsule of activated charcoal would I give

Customer Question

How much of a 250mg capsule of activated charcoal would I give to a 45 to 50lb dog who ingested semi sweet chocolate chips. She is drinking a lot and has already thrown the chocolate up several times. Vitals are ok. Heart beat, eyes, etc. Drinking electrolite water and organic chicken broth. I need an answer asap.

Hello there,

The dose for all animals is 1-3 grams per kg of charcoal.

Your dog weighs 23 kg

1 gram = 1000 mg

He would need 23,000 to 69,000 mg of charcoal.

This would be 92 to 276 capsules. It takes a lot.

NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I am not a doctor nor do I understand metrics. I am also a bit frantic. I need to know HOW MANY 250 MG Capsules of activited charcoal to give my 45 to 50 lb dog. Please do not convert. Just give me the amount I need to give to her.
