I have a 9/12 year old Chihuahua that has been to the Vet on
I have a 9/12 year old Chihuahua that has been to the Vet on and off since the end of July. It started with a a bit of coughing for a few weeks so I took him too the Vet. He did have a heart work up down and was diagnosed with a Level 3 Heart murmur and I believe it was Aortic Stenosis. He then went on 2.5 mg of Enalapril 2x a day and 12.5 mg of Lasix every other day. The wheezing/coughing still occured but not all the time. The Vet then suggested Vetmedin to be added to his meds. I had them compounded because he is very stubborn at taking pills. So now he was taking this enalpril 2.5mg, lasix 12.5 and Vetmedin 1.25 once a day for weeks (1ml) then if his cough/wheezing didnt get better then give 2x a day. Tried both once a day and twice. He stills has a bit of wheezing and runny nose. He is a happy dog though, he eats well plays and goes for short walks. The issue that I have here is it seems like he has allergies and have given him Benadryl for that. He is most congested and sneezy after he lies down to sleep when he gets up or gets excited. I have spent LOTS of money on vet bills and meds and xrays, heart work ups....Not sure what I can do next for him … read more
