Second opinion] he has been sick all summer, great dane. 3.5
great dane. 3.5 yo. it started with an abscess on his mid/lower back, right side next near the spine, but on a muscle. we drained and he did a round of antibiotics. he had lost a lot of weight and gained 10 lb fast (one week) post surgery. lots of chicken and not best quality (he eats a lot). i also changed his dry food to no grain at the same time. before the surgery he only ever had his dry food. then he didnt want to eat the chicken anymore. so i tried turkey.. he became ill again, lethargic, not eating much.. panting at rest, then finally it was obvious he was very uncomfortable in his belly and constipated, i squeezed his anal glands. he got worst. his abscess had also, coincidentally, appeared after i had squeezed his glands. high fever and i took him to the emergency. in the AC his temp went down and all seemed fine. i waited a week. still sick. we went to get blood tests. all good, except for an infection in the stomach. so now he's back on antibiotics. but one week into it (still 3 days left on the round) and today his temp was a bit high, i squeezed his anal glands today again (its been now about 2 weeks since last time) and much came out, but he seemed worst (again)all day. he's just not well, panting at rest still.. then i also noticed, his hind legs are beginning to act funny and the last week he wants to go on walks but he doesnt want to go up the stairs. also, he will not lift his leg to pee and finally today he snapped at me when i touched him on the side back, both left and right (but more sensitive on the left) on that area right in front of the back hips, where the colon or rectum or intestines i think are. but his back legs are definately getting suddenly weak. he has not run for days. … read more
