1999 Dodge 1500 5.2l with no pcm communication,, I have unplugged all modules still no communication... I have continuity from pins 3 and 11 in data connector to pcm. Truck runs but has missfire and check engine light. I have 2.2V on pin 3 and pin 11 at data port.Don I can handle no phone call just email fine.

sounds like you have a bad pcm.

I doubt it is a power and ground issue as it runs.

you have done all the correct checks and if it wont talk to you then it has failed.

and programmed it???

it is the serial data line and you have he correct voltage at that line

you cannot swap from vehicle to vehicle. you need to program it to your vin number.

I have 2.2V at number 3 and 2.2V at number 11. I know you should read those with labscope will running to see issues. My question with key on engine off I have 2.2V at both terminals. Now the terminals show one as + and one as -, should I have positive voltage at both like I do

Thats not correct you can swap dodge pcm,,, I own a shop and have done so MANY MANY times

you can even swap 5.2l and 5.9l with no issue,,, now you are correct its great if you have programmed and flashed with updates but not required to run vehicle

no, I cant talk to pcm,, I have tried figure that out most of the week, so now im old schooling to just try fix miss and get it out of here before I match it ha. I can give you more history if you want look into

is it a spark issue? injector issue? vacuum leak issue? compression issue? sometimes fixing the other problem gives light on the problem you are presently focused on

Not a spark issue, all plugs new and have pulled all wires checked spark, not compression, all inj ohm good,, have good voltage to all inj, could have number 1 and 3 I may need pull and soak tips coulb be plugged. Those cylinders dont change motor when terminals pulled. This code is a hard code, I can clear code through battery disconnect and PCM it comes back instantly when started, I have 5V ref through all sensors

all 8 inj fire, all grounds removed and cleaned, additional grounds added for good measure. all grounds and voltage at DLC, I have used two different PCM, that I have on good trucks here.

my 99 Durango had no comm. intermittent no injector pulse intermittent bought used pcm 3 years ago still fine. my girlfriend Honda civic fuel pump took out ecu not providing ground to fuel pump relay obd1 94 two cardone would not start. sent my ecu out for repairs or hers and this place in Indian fixed it almost 3 years ago still runs fine...JUST sayin

Old pcm works on this truck,, all pcms will start and run this truck but no pcm will talk to scanner. Also do you know this, I can unplugg cam sensor while truck running and it stays running should it do that. Naturally it wont restart with it unplugged

only unusual i have is I only have 2.2V on sci bus which should read 2.49 to 2.51v. Also I have positive 2.2v on both bus + and Bus- im thinking there is the issue, I dont think I should have voltage on bus- when taken to ground, but know on e can answer defiativ;ey

like checking a window motor circuit with connector removed test light might light up may show 12 volts but is there enough amps. so you hook it up and the test light is real dim now....cause the switch is bad but you told customer it was the motor and them motor is in the car and its new and it don't work...cause the switch is bad

just sayyin...don't want to get into a super DEEP PROBLEM when its a simple problem like a bad connection at fuse box or in ladl or you aren't getting enough current to pcm or there is a bad ground somewhere so double check...have chased my tail in circles many many times

I have semi semi I say found problem. The twisted wire pair bus wires, from pcm to fuse panel check ok, but with wires removed from panel , they both short to ground from fuse panel to interior, and all modules are unplugged.

problem is in dash there is a small junction where all bus + and - meet, with all modules unplugged two have 10v and they shouldnt, a white one has 10 and purple has ten I cut those hoping that would put me ok,, that didnt do it..... this thing doesnt have overhead console so inside I have central timer unplugged instrument radio airbag and abs,, so I dont know how 10 volts could be on these. No way to trace with out pulling dash
