I BOUGHT A 99 RAM...
I BOUGHT A 99 RAM 2500 WITH THE 5.9 CUMMINS DEISEL,THE TRUCK HAS AN ADRENALIN QUADZILLA PROGRAMMER ON IT WHEN I PURCHACED IT. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD DONE EXTENSIVE WORK TO IT AS THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT,NEW CRANK,PISTONS,RODS,HIGH SPOOL CAM ,B&D TWIN TURBO,PRETTY MUCH THE WORKS.WHEN WE PICKED IT UP ALL SEEMED TO WORK FINE EXCEPT OIL PRESSURE GAUGE SWINGS UP AND DOWN ALONG WITH THE ENGINE TEMP.GAUGE.CHECKING THEM MANUALLY THE ENGINE TEMP.STAYS AT 190 AND OIL PRESSURE AT 60 PSI.THE PREVIOS OWNER HAD ALSO ADDED 2 ELECTRIC FANS TO THE RADITOR.WHEN YOU TURN ON ANYTHING THAT RUNS ON THE 12 VOLT BUSS THE ENGINE DECREACES WHERE NOTICIBLE,MAYBE ABOUT 200 RPM.THE BEFORE MENTIONED GAUGES WILL SWING AND FINALLY THE CHECK GAUGES LIGHT COMES ON.THE CODES THAT SHOW UP ARE LOW 5 VOLT SUPPLY AT SENSORS.ANY IDEAS WHERE TO START TROUBLESHOOTING.I TOOK TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND BECAUSE OF ALL THE AFTER MARKET PARTS THEY DIDN'T WANT TO TRY1!!!

If it shows the normal temp and oil pressure in a data display on a scan tool device when the gauges are swinging like this then this issue is in the instrument gauge cluster itself.If it was a sensor or wiring or 5-volt signal at fault the data signals would have swung as much as the gauges did and since they did not this indicates the instrument cluster gauge needs replaced.
