A code doesn't always mean a sensor is bad, it just refers to that circuit, it could be a wire, so would you like a trouble shooting procedure for that code?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
i would need to get the check engine light off need to get vehicle inspected

What is the 8th digit of the vin, a 5, 6 or Z?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
8th digit is z
Dodge Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 2 months ago

Is this a diesel cause I only see P1740 listed for a diesel.

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Dodge Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 2 months ago

Plus, I am seeing P1740 as a TCC OR O/D SOLENOID PERFORMANCE (BR BODY - DIESEL)

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Dodge Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 2 months ago

The vin Z does show a gas engine so are you sure about the code?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
No it is a gas motor and 1740 torque converter clutch or overdrive solenoid performance year is actually 2000 my mistake
Dodge Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 2 months ago

Here that is but it is still TCC OR OD SOLENOID PERFORMANCE

Did that answer your question? If so, kindly leave me a positive rating, so I get credit. After all, you have already made the deposit.
If you don't, the deposit you made will just sit there and I won't get my share of it.

Unfortunately you are going to need to remove the transmission and inspect. I would start with removing he pan and valve body.
Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Are you saying i need to remove the trans from the truck to inspect the valve body or can i just pull the pan and remove valve body with the trans still in the truck are you implying there may be something contaminating the valve body
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, ASE Certified Technician replied 2 months ago

Yes, I would start by removing the transmission pan and remove the valve body.

I GIVE YOU ALL THE CREDIT FOR YOUR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, JUST FROM THE SYMPTONS I GAVE YOU OVER THE e MAIL. I WILL USE YOUR WEB SITE AGAIN AND REFER MY FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
