I just replaced cam and lifters on a 2012 dodge 2500 5.7 hemi and after completion I have misfires on cylinders 1,4,6,7 I don't understand what's goin on as before repare it was only #3 that was misfiring due to failed cam and lifter

1,4,6 and 7 are different lifters correct?

sir I put them in exactly how the pictures showed and made sure msd front lifters was closest to radiator and msd rear lifters were closest to the firewall

Hi Wade,

I'm not 100% on your engine, but Chevy LS with AFM lifters have to be fitted correctly.

Otherwise as soon the engine oil pressure is up, the valves are deactivated.

In an LS, they run normal lifters for 2, 3, 5 and 8. The other 4 are AFM lifters and must be fitted correctly. Also cannot fit normal lifters.

For these hemi's there different part numbers for the front and different ones for the rear basically 1-4 are the front set 5-8 are the rear. It almost sounds like I have an msd failure or something just can't pin point it but it has to do with something I must have done because it wasn't doing this before it was just number 3 but that was caused by the failed lifter and flat cam lobe.

I did verify that the packages that said rear all had the same part numbers and same with the front

I would take a valve cover off, and fire the engine up.

And then see which valves are not operating.

Your setup is identical in principle to LS V8.

The fronts are identical so the pairing for cylinder 1 would become cylinder 4 if swapped, that is why they are the same.

The rears are a reverse, cylinder 6 and 7.

But if they were packaged incorrectly or fitted incorrectly then you will have permanent cylinders disabled.

Cranking the engine with a cover off will show valves operating normally, say during a compression test. Once the engine has oil pressure, any cylinders with reverse fitted lifters will be disabled. The lifters could be in the correct holes, but the lifters are facing the wrong way.
