thats a short or open in the circuit was the harness checked for brakes or damage ?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
visually inspected it as far as i can without removing it. was going to start chasing wire but all data and mitchell wont tell me what relay it is, opened up fuse box and theres no relays with the wire colorings that they show
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

the pdc relay is built into the FICM

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

so it would be ficm failure or a break or damaged wire...id start with a continuity check

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
ummmmm shows wire coming from drivetrain control module to relay, never heard of a ficm on a gasser
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

im sorry pdc or fpdc Front Power Distribution Centers

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
i have the fpdc opened up, no relays match their color on wires , so have no way of knowing which relay it is or which wire to chase
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
i rotated all the relays around and it didnt change anything so relay is good assuming its actually in the fpdc
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
when i clear codes i have to drive 25 miles for it to reset code
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
there is also a c147b memory code
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

sometimes codes do not trip instantly but its a code that pints to a vltage short or volatge issue....i would check continuity

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
um kinda hard to do not knowing where the relay is that it goes to and wire color.................................................lotta wires to randomly start chasing without that vital information
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

did you follow the flow chart in alldata?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
thats the reason im paying to talk to you, to get proper wire color and place
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
ok back to where we started , it tells me to test at relay with grounded pin at dtcm connector............. need to know location of relay in fpdc and wire coloring before i can perform this testing
.............
Dodge Mechanic: xsvector, Auto Mechanic replied 7 months ago

im not showing wire colors in my diagrams...i can send yu the flow chart from alldata but it looks like we have the same info

thank you dan, that helped alot. wire from drivetrain control module to relay is fine. .2 ohms end to end. swapped out relay and going for a test drive. ill let u know if it fixed it. alldata and mitchell show it as one of the large relays, grrrrrrrrr. its labeled in fuse box as spare...

back from test drive. 31 miles service awd light came on. cruise set @ 80 mph. codes present now are u0002 , u0402 , c147b. any ideas?
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

I'm assuming the drive train control module is setting all of these codes. I'd start by verifying it has good power/ground and if so go through troubleshooting chart for C127b and if everything seems ok replace the module. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Customer reply replied 7 months ago
c127b?? i dont have that code, did u mean c147b?.. would the drivetrain control module cause the can codes?
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

Yes I meant 147b, sorry about that. Drivetrain control module would cause the U0002 code if it is setting code. And C147b would pretty much only be caused by shift motor, wiring, or module. Some strange things are happening considering codes are changing around so I'd just go with the C147b and see where it leads.

the chart is calling it an intermittant problem as it wont reset code until i drive 25 to 30 miles so all it leads me to is visual inspection and wiggle test. i did find a wire going into the connector down on the axle lock module on front diff that about 1/2 of the strands are cut. to close to connector to repair so ill have to check into pigtail monday am. does oem dodge have a better diagnostics procedure?
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

I'd imagine it is all the same as manual gets information directly from dodge, here is chart I have. Here is info I have, let me now if you have questions. Thanks again and please do not forget to rate answer, you can still reply without additional fees. Thanks.

sorry for the delay... found a wire half cut through down by the front axle lock module, right at connector so replaced pigtail there, also installed new drivetrain control / transfer case control module. still sets service all wheel drive light. any ideas?
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

Still getting same codes?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question

drove it 25 miles , set code c147b again
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

Did you ever follow the troubleshooting chart?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
problem is it wants you to clear codes then if code immediatly sets again u can test. if not it reffers u to step 11 which is inspect wires, wiggle test wires etc while watching scanner. it wont reset codes until you drive 25 to 30 miles....
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

I think problem is shift motor or module, I would just go ahead and replace in whatever order you feel like it. But at this point I don't think there is much more testing you can do with problem being intermittent and if it was a wiring/connection problem I doubt you would have to drive 25 miles before it sets.

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
havent been able to find info but are these supposed to start out in 2wd until conditions call for all wheel drive? this one starts out in awd, after 3 or 4 miles it goes into*****until you slow down then goes back to awd.
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

According to user manual it should only used AWD when needed which would also point toward module as problem.

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
your talking about shift module on transfer case correct?
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

I'm referring to the drivetrain control module.

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
replaced it today along with fixing the one half cut wire
Dodge Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 7 months ago

Then next thing I'd try is front axle disconnect module. It may be worth paying a shop. I'm not sure what else we can do over computer with a intermittent issue. I can open question back up if you would like.
