I originally got a P0038 code and replaced the driver side downstream O2 sensor. The code never cleared but today I lost throttle control and the engine died. Before this I had noticed that the idle kept going up to around 1300 rpm while stopped and then would creep down. I am pretty sure it is the TPS from what I have been reading.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you located all of the vehicle's oxygen sensors? Are the wires leading to and from each intact and in good shape?

Yes. I have checked the wires to the O2 sensors. They appear fine.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Dodge?

2004 Dakota 4.7l

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Dakota yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes, I am fixing it myself.

What Customers are Saying:

I AM VERY GLAD THAT I TOOK A CHANCE ON YOUR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. MY TRUCK RUNS LIKE A CLOCK. IT RUNS LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. NO LUNGING FORWARD, THE TURBO REACTS THE SECOND I STOMP ON THE GAS, AND IT HAS A LOT MORE POWER AND EVEN SOUNDS BETTER TO ME. IT SAVED ABOUT $500.00 BY DOING THE WORK MYSELF. I GIVE YOU ALL THE CREDIT FOR YOUR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, JUST FROM THE SYMPTONS I GAVE YOU OVER THE e MAIL. I WILL USE YOUR WEB SITE AGAIN AND REFER MY FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
