95 cummins. Will start but dies when key is back to run

Customer Question

95 cummins. Will start but dies when key is back to run position. If I manually pull up the fuel solenoid lever and have someone start it it stays running fine even when I let go of the lever. It is a bad solenoid or relay? Thanks

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

The problem could be the shutdown solenoid itself but it could also be a wiring issue, the relay that powers the solenoid, possibly just a blown fuse. It will require some electrical testing to determine what is going on.

Do you have an incandescent test light?

Is there power on the light green/black wire at the solenoid with the key on?

I can't check it today. My friend lives 30 miles from here
