Customer: I was trying to but I don't have room to just remove it by its self do i

Are you looking for information to replace the starter?

I have disconnected the power from the solenoid but I have no room to get at the bolts on the stater

Is your dakota a 2wd or a 4x4? What size engine does it have init?

How far have you gotten in the removal stage?

Disconnected the battery and the bolt that is on the solenoid

Do you have an automatic transmission in your truck?

Then the bolts that hold the starter to the transmission on on the back side of the bell housing. The bolts go through the bell housing and into the starter.

Can you get to them?

I can but I can turn them as I hit the frame exhaust or oil pan from the trany

Do you have an extension for your ratchet so you can be past the exhaust?

Not a long enough one

Have you removed the front drive shaft from the transfer case to the front diff? This will give you more room to be able to get to them.
