I have a Dodge Nitro 2007 The tire size should be 225-75-r 16 . I can buy 235-60-r 16 for a real good price. Would that be OK or would it hurt my Nitro
JA: How old are the tires? And have they been a problem in the past?
Customer: My tires are getting worn out. I have a chance to buy 4 used 235-60-R 16 with 90% tread left for good price. they are 2 years old
JA: Are you fixing your Nitro yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I will get them balanced and installed by tire store. I just wondered if the tire sized will hurt my Nitro
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thanks

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

If you change the size, you will cause a host of computer issues and lights coming on in the dash. The computer is programmed for the original tire size posted. You speedometer will also not read correctly either. Sorry for the bad news and hope it doesn't affect my 5 star rating for being honest with you.

Please understand that I don't know your skill level or tools
you have to assist us. Also understand that I can't see, smell,
hear, or touch the vehicle either, so your patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does not replace a
repair shop. So please don’t shoot the messenger if I have to
deliver bad news:)
If you are satisfied with my answer, I would greatly
appreciate a 5 star rating now before you leave the site and I
will still assist you after you have rated me too if another
question pops up. I don’t get credit for helping you until
you rate me

Thanks, Ron
