Customer Question
2010 town and country...

2010 town and country. had locked up calipers on the front, replaced both front calipers and the master cyl do to a sinking brake pedal. Now no matter how many times we bleed the brakes pedal still sinks to the floor.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tried cleaning and oiling the brake pedal's pivot under the dash?

No wouldn't think that would cause a spongy/sinking pedal?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Town and Country yourself? What have you tried so far?

Im actually a service manager at a corporate repair shop. we've pretty much done everything we could think of

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No i can explain more if questions are asked

Hi, My name is Jay

You have either got a defective master cylinder or got some sludge into the internal rubber cup seals. Replace the master cylinder again or take it apart and clean the internal parts.

I've put 3 different new masters, all bench bleed correctly. All the calipers, pads and rotors are new and the booster. I've done the IPB "integrated parking brake" bleed procedure, also did the abs bleed with the soulus. I'm lost.

I am opting out to see if another expert may have an idea. Please do not respond so question does not lock to me and another expert will contact you.

Hi Im David, check the calipers and make sure the bleeders are above the brake lines

All the breeders are on top. Even did 2 sets of rear calipers do to IPB possibly being faulty causing air to be caught.
Dodge Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

ok, thats was my concern. also I have seen where the brake hoses deteriorate internally and a piece will get stuck inside and act like a check valve and not let fluid flow both ways

I'm getting pretty good pressure on all 4. Even power bleeding. But hoses, lines and abs module are the only original components left.
Dodge Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

See if you can watch the hoses when the vehicle is off and pumping the pedal. see if they swell

Will do. Apparently these vans have somewhat shady brake systems. But brakes are brakes. Never had this problem before.
Dodge Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

Ive had this over and over and it seems it always something different.
